Brow Lift: The Basics

A brow lift is a surgical procedure whereby the skin of the brow is incised and lifted. Brow lift surgery substantially reduces wrinkles in the forehead, and can correct sagging in the forehead skin, upper eyelids and eyebrows. 

The very process of living has an aging effect: laughing, frowning, and the environment will ultimately cause brow wrinkles to appear on your face. Some people are more susceptible to these than others, and they find that even at a relatively young age, they have deep wrinkles and creases in their forehead. Sagging brows and a creased forehead can quickly age you, and frown lines can make you look angry when you are not; a brow lift addresses these conditions. Some patients combine a brow lift with another facial procedure. Brow Lift: Specifics and Procedure

After you are given sedation for your brow lift, Dr. Schlesinger will make a single cut across the top of your head. The scars from these will be hidden by your hair after the surgery. Depending upon what you need done, your doctor might insert a tube with a camera – called an endoscope, through one of the incisions. The tissues under your forehead will be removed, shifted, or altered to attain the desired look. Your brow lift will be completed by closing your incisions and sending you to recovery.

A brow lift can make you look years younger, happier, and more alert. A brow lift is a more permanent procedure than a non-surgical injection--the results are long-lasting. Recovery from the surgery will take between 5 – 10 days, and you need to discuss with Dr. Schlesinger any special precautions you need to take following your brow lift.
