A face lift, also called a rhytidectomy (literally, surgical removal of wrinkles), is a surgical procedure whereby excess facial skin is removed, leaving the patient's face with a more youthful appearance. A face lift can correct sagging skin in your face and remove wrinkles; the procedure is semi-permanent and the effects are long-term. If you are interested in a face lift, it is paramount that you select a plastic surgeon who has extensive experience in performing this procedure. How Is a Face Lift Performed?

All face lifts are done with the patient under some form of sedation. There are different types of face lifts Dr. Schlesinger might perform depending upon your needs. Most face lifts involve incisions at the base of your ears, and along your hairline. The hairline will hide the scars following the procedure. Dr. Schlesinger may (depending on your needs) work under the skin to remove extra fat and tissue. He will also reposition some of the tissue if needed.

Following your procedure, you will then begin recovery. Most face lifts require at least 3 hours of surgery time, and some patients are required to stay overnight for observation. Most patients are able to go back to work within 10 days following their face lift.
