What Is Perlane?

Perlane is an injectible anti-wrinkle treatment and a dermal filler. Perlane is commonly used to fill deeper facial wrinkles and sunken cheeks, and to shape the lips, cheeks, and chin. Perlane is similar in chemical composition to Restylane.

Perlane is stronger than Restylane, generates thicker skin tissue and lasts longer (about 10 months in most cases). Restylane is most appropriate for fine, delicate sculpting. Dr. Schlesinger sometimes combines Resytlane and Perlane within one treatment.

Perlane acts to add fullness to your skin that is lost with aging. This lessens the appearance of lines and wrinkles. The loss of hyaluronic acid is a natural part of aging, but this substance is necessary to maintain your skin's youthful fullness and volume. Perlane is injected under the skin and within a few hours, you will see a return of volume to your skin and a more youthful appearance.

How Perlane Works

Perlane is based upon a naturally occurring substance found in the skin, hyaluronic acid. This substance draws water in your skin which adds volume to your skin and improves the overall tone and elasticity at the treatment site. Since it is already in your skin, hyaluronic acid has been proven to be a safe and effective substance for wrinkle treatment.

What Can Perlane Do for Me?

When you choose to undergo Perlane treatment at any of our Hawaii surgical centers, you can expect a significant improvement in the appearance of moderate and severe lines, creases, and wrinkles in your skin, especially around your nose and mouth. Your results from your Perlane treatment can last up to 10 months, but you can extend this to 18 months by getting a follow-up treatment either 4 or 9 months after your initial treatment.
