Chin augmentation is performed through a small incision inside the mouth and the implants are made out of silicone. A chin implant is a solid piece which hugs the jaw bone (mandible). To keep these from becoming malpositioned, I put in a small titanium screw to hold the implants in place, guaranteeing there will never be any displacement or uneven look to one’s chin.

Retrusive chins are known to the general population as “weak chins.”

Chin augmentation is a relatively short procedure, lasting approximately 45 minutes. It is normally performed under general anesthesia, but can be performed under local.

At the end of your procedure, the intra-oral incision will be closed with dissolvable suture; this suture should disappear within seven days. There is rarely excessive pain associated with chin augmentations, and most patients if needing a cover story as to why there is swelling on their face, can say they had a dental-like procedure done. The final swelling after chin augmentations goes down within ten days. There is much less swelling when the implants are anchored in place.
