Dear Dr. Schlesinger,

I am writing to tell you how much I appreciate the excellent job you did on my face.

When I was three years old, I was standing in my driveway when one of the neighborhood girls ran me over with her bike. My parents rushed me to E.R. and they put 24 stitches in my nose and forehead. That experience was horrible. Unable to put me under, they made my mother leave, and held me down to sew me up. I will never forget that. I will also never forget going to you to have the stitches redone. You made me laugh and you made sure I was comfortable before you tried to put me under. It was no problem. You put 36 tiny stitches in my face and today it can hardly be seen. Most people don’t even know I have a scar until I show them. I thank you so much for caring and taking the time to give me a beautiful face. I hate to think of what I might look like if my parents hadn’t taken me to you. Thank You.

I also remember every morning on my way to school, waving at you from the school bus while you were jogging. I hope you remember me, but if not, I understand. I’m sure you have put many stitches in many faces over the past eighteen years, and I’m sure that you have many patients that are thankful for your caring heart and steady hand.
